Every bride wants to look her best on her wedding day. At Alias Professional I know that’s why you’ve chosen me as your on location wedding makeup artist. I love helping you get ready. Here are 5 things you can do in advance to have your face in tip top shape. (I carry most of the products mentioned in salon):
Lips – everyone will be watching for that lovely smile. It’s important that your lips are in tip top shape. This will help your lipstick to look lovely and last longer. We recommend using the Image Ormedic Balancing Lip Enhancement Complex
. Use it at night before you go to bed and in the morning when you are getting ready. To get rid of dead skin on your lips you can make your own lip scrub by combining ¼ teaspoon of olive oil with ¼ teaspoon of sugar. Gently rub on your lips to remove dead skin. Repeat once a week.
Eyes – start using an eye cream to help with moisturizing the eye area. Our favorites are Image Skincare’s Max Stem Cell Eye Cream
, Vital C Hydrating Eye Recovery Gel
or Arbonne’s RE9 Advanced Corrective Eye Cream.
They will help diminish the look of fine lines, puffiness and dark circles. Also, when washing your face avoid steam as it can increase puffiness. Cold compresses can help diminishes puffiness as well as redness of the whites of the eyes. A cucumber placed over the eyelid can help as well.
Brows – Have your eyebrows and other areas of your face waxed, dermaplaned, threaded or tweezed at least 3 days prior to your wedding day (a week out if your skin is sensitive and tends to get red or break out). This will help airbrushed or conventional makeup to lie flat on the skin and not emphasize facial hair. Brush through your brows at night and in the morning to help tame them to grow in the correct direction. This is a treatment we can start a couple months out. This will help to eliminate some hairs over time.
Facial treatment – Start getting facials a few months prior to your wedding day, at least once a month – up to once a week, ending with a facial the week prior to your wedding day. If that’s not in your budget try using an enzyme masque/mud masque combination once to twice a week. First cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser then apply an enzyme masque. This will remove the build up of dead skin cells that make the skin look dull. Massage in and leave on for 10 minutes. I like the Image Vital C Hydrating Enzyme Masque
. Next apply a mineral mud masque. Try Ojavan’s Npato
mineral mud face and body masque. It will visibly improve the appearance of skin tone and texture, minimize the look of pores and provide a radiant glow. On a regular basis make sure you wash all of your makeup off and apply a moisturizer at night and in the morning after you wash your face apply a moisturizer like the Image Daily Matte Moisturizer SPF30
Tan lines – nothing worse than a sunburn or tan lines on your wedding day when you have to worry about how your skin looks with the neck line on your wedding dress. Make sure to use sunscreen all over especially on your face, arms, back and decollete. If you are getting a spray tan exfoliate your body prior to and that will help it look more even. If you want to use a self tanner, I’ve had good look with this one Australian Gold Spray Tanner SPF30
